Kajsa Balto tour brought Sámi music and storytelling to young audiences in northern Sweden
Between 16 and 20 March 2026, Sámi artist Kajsa Balto toured northern Sweden with the programme Buot eallá (“Everything lives”). The tour included five school concerts in Norrbotten, in locations including Haparanda, Pajala, Kiruna and Boden, as well as a public concert in Jokkmokk.
As part of Norrbottensmusiken’s children and youth programme, the tour introduced young audiences and local communities to joik, songs and storytelling rooted in Sámi tradition. Through live performance and artist encounters, children and young people were given the opportunity to experience Sámi culture in a direct and accessible way.
The tour is a clear example of how Arctic Pulse works to increase the visibility of Sámi and minority-language music, while also making living cultural heritage available to children and young people in everyday cultural settings such as schools and local concert venues.
The tour was carried out within Arctic Pulse in collaboration with Norrbottensmusiken, with support from Interreg Aurora, Region Norrbotten and Luleå Kommun.
