An Arctic Pulse Concert at Jakobs Dagar in Jakobstad
Arctic Pulse, in collaboration with Finn Jakobstad, took over the stage by the Skolträdgården botanical garden in Jakobstad during Jakobs Dagar, July 23rd 2025. We had a great opportunity to offer diverse performances from the northern parts of Sweden to a broader audience.
The day started with Mirja Palo & Jonas Sjöblom, who delivered an Arctic musical experience exploring the borderland between language and identity, where Sami, Tornedalian, and Finnish traditions met.
Next up was Take Cover, formed by students at Piteå School of Music, performed the best songs from various projects they have worked on during the fall and spring in a variety of musical styles, including rock, blues and funk.
Carolina Miskovsky & Daniel Petterson delivered songs in a mix of country, folk, pop, and ballads in singer-songwriter style with a folk vibe.
Anja Storelv band combined the ancient with the innovative—creating a story about our Sami culture, the power of nature, and the dream of preserving our language, identity, and history for future generations.
Last out, Kvarken Soul Collective feat. Cimberly Wanyonyi, with musicians from both sides of Qvarken, gave us an unforgettable performance consisting of both original songs and soul classics.
Désirée Saarela, who is a Finland-Swedish musician, singer-songwriter and folk singer acted as a host for the day.
