Creative Camp in Luleå developed music productions for young audiences

In June, musicians and creative professionals from Sweden and Norway gathered in Luleå for Arctic Pulse’s second Creative Camp — a hands-on development format for music productions aimed at children and young audiences.

The camp built on the first Creative Camp, held in Bodø in 2025. Based on experiences and feedback from that first edition, the format in Luleå was extended from two to three days. This gave the participating productions more time for artistic direction, feedback, rehearsal and creative development.

During the camp, participants worked practically with musical ideas, stage expression, dramaturgy and how the productions can function in school concert and touring contexts. The productions developed during the camp will go on to future school tours, bringing the creative work from Luleå to children and young audiences. The format created space for artists, producers and directors to test ideas, ask questions, make adjustments and continue developing the productions together

For Arctic Pulse, Creative Camp is a clear example of cross-border collaboration in practice. By bringing artists and organisations together in a shared creative process, the camp supports both artistic development and professional connections within the wider Arctic Pulse network.

The days in Luleå were filled with music, discussion, testing, feedback and generous exchange between participants. A big thank you to everyone who took part and shared their ideas, music, experience and energy during these days in Luleå.

The Creative Camp was carried out within the framework of Arctic Pulse, together with Norrbottensmusiken, Norrlandsoperan, Nordnorsk Jazzsenter, Musikk i Nordland and Scene Nord, with support from Interreg Aurora, Nordland fylkeskommune, Troms fylkeskommune, Luleå kommun, Region Norrbotten, Umeå kommun and Region Västerbotten.
