Arctic Pulse Orchestra completed its 2026 tour across the North

Arctic Pulse Orchestra (APO) is a Nordic big band project that brings together music students and professional musicians from Finland, Sweden and Norway in one shared cross-border ensemble. Led by musical director Ralf Nyqvist, the orchestra performs newly written and newly arranged music by composers and arrangers from the region, with a clear Scandinavian and Arctic profile.

After joint rehearsals in Jakobstad from 28 February to 3 March 2026, APO set out on a five-concert tour through Jakobstad, Oulu, Boden, PiteƄ and UmeƄ. The tour ended at Norrlandsoperan on 8 March.

More than a concert series, APO tested a practical way for young musicians, experienced section leaders, education environments and professional music organisations to work together across borders. That experience can now support future ensemble collaborations and touring cooperation in the North.
